Ultrasonic Test Is the Right Way to Prevent Leak

The sea transport business has now expanded as was never recorded in its history. Also known as the maritime industry, this industry has no boundaries today. Every sea and ocean is open for a transport ship to sail unless some political elements become hurdles and do not allow ships from entering its ocean’s boundaries. While there’s no stopping to this industry now, the biggest threat for every ship is leakage. Leaks in a ship can be as lethal as poison is for a living being. A single leak can grow bigger with the water pressure and as the hole becomes bigger larger amounts of water enter the ship making it heavy and sinkable.

The most sensitive area of a transport ship is its hatch covers. Unless the tightness of hatch with ultrasound is checked on a regular basis, the cargo hatch would soon portray a picture of a swimming pool on the transport ship. Due to the massive, heavy and bulky goods being loaded and unloaded in the cargo hatches, they are often destroyed. Huge holes and cracks appear on them and they become the primary reason for the water and the humid air to enter the cargo hatches.

When water enters the cargo hatches of transport ships there’s no limit to the destruction it can cause. There are all kinds of goods laden in the cargo hold, some of them might be able to withstand the presence of water such as ceramic made goods and other items which are not vulnerable to water, but goods such as clothes and gadgets are easily destroyed. Once a good is destroyed due to water entering the sensitive areas there is no compensation for it. The only way a transport ship company can compensate the loss is by paying the cost amount of all the goods to the rightful owner. This means that the shipping company has to involuntarily surrender a chunk of it earning to the people who are filing claims for the mishandling of their goods.

The practice of hatch cover ultrasonic tightness testing on a constant routine is being made mandatory for all the transport ships by their owners. As we all know that prevention is better than cure, the ultrasonic hatch cover testing is the only way to prevent a monetary loss due to leakage. If there are doubts or presence of leaks has been found, it is best to apply the repairs before setting sail. When everything is repaired on the right time there would be no need to worry about the claims that would be needed to refund when the ship docks.

  1. There is no doubt that ultrasonic test is very useful and effective for many purpose and in the same way it effectively fix all the leaking problems.
